The Southern California Motorcycling Association (SCMA) and its associated clubs now have a new communication tool. On June 1, 2010, SCMA's webmaster, Terry Smith, set up a general purpose
forum that is linked to the front page of the SCMA website. It will work like the Four Corners and the Three Flags forums. Members can register on the new forum and then have access to reading and posting announcements and comments about SCMA and motorcycling-related issues. SCMA event chairs can easily post announcements about upcoming rides and answer questions. Our associated clubs can post information about their upcoming events as well. I'd also ask our SCMA officers and event chairs to keep an eye out for AMA announcements that we can post on the forum to keep all of our riders up to speed on the larger world of motorcycling.
The Four Corners and Three Flags forums will remain as they are and we will ask everyone to use those forums for those events--exclusively--so that there's no confusion about where to go to find out the latest.
There is also a chairman's corner area and a general area. I'm hoping that these areas can be used for developing new ideas and answering questions of a general nature. What I don't want to do is short circuit the normal and regular communication between event chairs, SCMA board members and the general membership. Most stuff ought to be worked out between the "producer" and the "customer" directly, to the extent possible. Intervention by the chair or by the board on this forum or elsewhere should be kept to a minimum.
I have cc'd many of the people I know in and around SCMA, but the list is not comprehensive by any means. So please pass this along to your club officers.
I urge the SCMA board members, SCMA event and ride chairs, and SCMA-associated clubs to use this new tool often. This will bring life to the forum and give people reason to look to it often for the latest information on what's happening in the SCMA family of clubs.
See you on the road.
